Kroger Diamond Clean vs Cascade platinum dish pacs- off brand better?

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post at no additional cost to you.

You love the convenience of dish pacs. In 2003 these nifty little gems were introduced to us by the brand Cascade. Some benefits of dish pacs are no risk of spilling over a bottle of dishwashing detergent and in some brand they do combine additional cleaning boosters to one of the sections of the pac.

You can toss one into your loaded dishwasher without fumbling around with security caps on liquid dishwasher detergent. Nor do you have to deal with detergent compartment of your dishwasher (some brands advise putting the pack in the compartment but I never do it. Heck, some people even think it’s fun to toss them in, shut the door and push a button. One and done!

They are in eye catching colors which doesn’t do anything more than make them cosmetically appealing to the user but it’s ok. We like pretty things don’t we?

They are a win win solution to cleaning.

As with all things convenience, we pay for it. Many other brands are on the market since Cascade dish pacs came on the dishwashing detergent scene but how do they measure up? Kroger has their own version of Cascade platinum dish pacs and they are called Diamond Clean dish pacs. I see what you did there Kroger.

The Diamond clean dish pacs claim to be a “triple action power pac that leaves flatware & glass streak free and even cleans 48 hour stuck on food”. Pretty lofty claims you are making there Kroger but you are selling me on them.

Caveats with dish pacs and pods are keeping them dry so the bag or tub style container must stay sealed so humidity and moisture can’t get to them as it would break down the quick dissolve coating, or at the very least cause them to stick together. I am recommending buying the smallest package available in any dish pac or pod due to their nature of sticking together no matter how careful you are at keeping moisture out. This could result in product waste or frustration. Let’s not add frustration over little things to our lives.

How good are Kroger Diamond Clean dish pacs?

Cascade Platinum action pods are a very good product there is no denying it. That said, how does the Kroger version compare? After using the entire container of them they performed very well. I don’t wash frequently ( I hand wash more than half of my dishes) so it can take up to 5 days to get my dishwasher full enough to run it and it gets off food that has been on dishes for that long. Things like messy mixing bowls, the pot I use to home roast coffee and stuck on oatmeal bowls all came out sparkling clean with no streaks.

Are Kroger Diamond Clean Dish Pacs worth it?

What is the savings with Kroger Diamond Clean dish pacs? Retail without any sales or coupons it averages 20% less than Cascade Platinum action pods.

On the rating scale I am giving Kroger Diamond Clean pacs a green dot.
