Is this budget brand as good as Lululemon?

The popular (and pricey) brand of Lululemon are a gold standard for a reason. The leggings have just the right amount of compression to feel secure and tucked in with a bonus of making a body look one half to a full size smaller. Are they worth the $100+ price tag? That depends on who you ask.

Personally, I am very fond of them. I only have one pair and several other brands. Because of this, I can say they do stand out among brands like Aerie, Athleta, JCPenny, and even Target. To date, a pair of Target leggings have had the closest feel to Lululemon but a little birdie told me about the CRZ line on Amazon claiming one of the styles is a Lululemon dupe. I had to get a pair.

What is Lululemon anyway?

The brand offers innovative and functional design, high-quality materials, and superior workmanship. It was founded as a yoga-inspired athletic brand with technical aspects to make high-performance wearables for both men and women alike. The first location opened in November of 2000 in Vancouver.

While the company started with a yoga focus naturally, to accommodate consumer demand, they ventured into other areas of women’s fitness. That is smart business after all.

What is a good Lululemon dupe?

Fair enough, $100+ fitness leggings aren’t budget-friendly. So what’s an active girl watching her pennies to do? As mentioned above, not all leggings are created equal. Aerie quickly began to slide off my body during jogging, weight training, and yoga. JCPenny was all over the place with fit and material so I could not recommend those either.

I ordered up a pair of CRZ yoga in the tight tummy control. They felt great, fabulous fit (no pockets though), and just the right amount of compression. The control top was too tight. Perhaps if a woman has a small waist in relation to her hips it would be a good match, but not for me. I exchanged them for the same material with no control top.

That is the winning formula! They are a very close match to my Lululemon’s. Less seaming detail than Lululemon if that matters to you. CRZ Yoga in this style feels almost like a second skin but with a touch of compression. They are squat-proof too thanks to a high waist that doesn’t budge. I also ordered the brushed style and they do not have quite the same compression feel but the fit is great on them as well. Note, if you have pets the brushed style is a hair magnet!

Final verdict on Lululemon vs. CRZ Yoga leggings

I will not deny in any way that Lululemon isn’t a premium product. Excellent quality, workmanship, design and fit. You would expect that for the price. With CRZ Yoga leggings I am also considering fit and feel. With my extensive experience wearing athletic leggings I can highly recommend CRZ yoga leggings based on fit, no sliding, length 28″ for up to 6′ tall or the shorter 25″ length for petite women, ease of movement and all around comfort. No gaping (yes some of the leggings gape even though they are spandex!) I paid $129 for the lululemon style shown above. I don’t regret it. I paid $26 for the CRZ yoga style shown above. I don’t regret that either.

I give the dupe at yellow dot. I like them enough to buy again (and I did buy more) but Lululemon are still #1 if they are within your budget.
